Loughborough to host England vs. Bangladesh fixture

27 June 2008

Loughborough University is to host a second international cricket fixture this July when England Under-19s take on a Bangladesh A side (6-8 July).

The game is the Bangladeshis’ first in the country as part of an eight-match tour in July and August and is also the first time England Under-19s have had the chance to play a touring A side.

The match is a precursor to the Under-19 Test series with New Zealand later this summer when England play the young Black Caps in two youth Tests at Taunton and New Road, before five one-day internationals.

The fixture takes place on the University’s Haslegrave pitch from 11am each day.

One week later England women take on the West Indies in back-to-back One Day International fixtures (11-12 July).

Could you be a Careers Mentor?

03 June 2008

As part of their career planning, Loughborough’s current students value contact with employers. As an alumnus of the university, and as an employer, you could be more involved with today’s students by volunteering to be a Careers Mentor. If you can offer a group talk to students, a work placement, an unpaid work-shadowing opportunity or if you are willing to be contacted by a student who wishes to find out more about your job, please get in touch. (The database is only accessible to Careers Centre staff but students may be referred, as appropriate).

Involvement offers you a personal and professional development opportunity. Our Careers Mentors have participated in initiatives such as our Employer Mentoring Scheme for Black and Minority Ethnic students and in our Work-Shadowing Programmes.

If you are interested please contact: Yvonne Hamblin, Employability Development Adviser. Email: y.c.hamblin@lboro.ac.uk. Tel: 01509 22207
