Have you voted for Loughborough in the Climate Change Challenge?27 March 2009 A ground-breaking cooling system, developed at the Department of Civil and Building Engineering at Loughborough University, has made it to the last five in a global competition for innovation to tackle climate change. Loughborough is the only University represented in the last five of the competition and if you like the sound of it you can vote now to help Loughborough reach first place. The evaporating tiles system – called Zephyr – was one of nearly 300 entries from around the world to the FT Climate Change Challenge. The winner, who will be decided by a public vote online, will be awarded $75,000 to help develop their idea and bring it to market. Lufbra in London returns to the Pitcher and Piano17 March 2009 This April sees the well established Lufbra in London event return to its original venue of The Pitcher and Piano, near to Trafalgar Square. If you have yet to attend a Lufbra in London event, then your really missing out. It's a fantastic opportunity to social network or simply catch up with your old Loughborough mates. Did you graduate in 2003 or later?16 March 2009 The Development and Alumni Relations Office is working with the University’s Careers Centre to develop a careers event to help recent Loughborough graduates who may be changing careers or who may find themselves needing to update their job seeking or interview skills. If you would be interested in attending an event to help progress your career, please take ten minutes to complete a short survey. (You will need to be registered to complete the survey) Your responses will help us to deliver an event which is tailored to your requirements. If we have enough interest in the careers event, it is expected that this will be held within the next few months. You will be notified by email. Can you help? Are you in a position to help us with the event? If you can spare a day or half a day and share your expertise with other Loughborough graduates, please contact us. You may be able to help with a question and answer session on your area of work or in supporting the Careers Centre staff in providing advice, based on your employment experience.
