International Alumni Mentors Wanted

Are you an International Loughborough Graduate who has successfully gained employment in the UK?
The Careers Centre runs a mentoring scheme for international students. The aim of the scheme is to provide support to the student regarding how to prepare themselves for the UK employment market. As a mentor you would be able to share your experience and provide helpful advice on all aspects of this, from gaining skills to the immigration rules, to the application and interview process.
We are seeking fifteen international alumni who have found graduate jobs in the UK who would be willing to mentor one student from November 2009-June 2010, with a minimum of six contacts (a mix of email, phone, face to face) with their mentee during this period.

Would you like to share you experience and provide helpful advice to current Loughborough Student?
The Careers Centre provides a programme of talks for international students, particularly from non-EEA countries to inform and prepare them to compete effectively in the UK employment market. We are looking for speakers for this academic year’s events, which will take place in November and February.

Over 1,000 past students received their honorary degrees on Saturday. We will have photographs from the event available online tomorrow but you can also watch the event now.

You can now have your own Loughborough University alumni email address. Following the vote earlier in the year the clear winner was @alumni.lboro.ac.uk so you can now sign in and select the email address you want.
Thorpedo visits Loughborough swimmers

Olympic swimming legend Ian Thorpe dropped in on Loughborough's swimmers at the weekend to wish them well ahead of the World Championships in Rome later this month. Australia's most decorated Olympian was in town to meet with Loughborough's Olympic medallists David Davies and Jo Jackson as they prepare for their first major swim meet Since the Beijing Olympics.
Loughborough returns to University Challenge

The Alumni team are delighted to let you know that for the first time in 25 years, Loughborough University will have a team in the competition for the coming series.
You will be able to watch the Loughborough team in action on BBC Two on 20 July.
